Needham Bank to be a Sponsor of the 2016 Needham Memorial Day Soccer Tournament


NEEDHAM, MA--- Needham Bank joins Adidas, Marriott, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Roche Brothers/Sudbury Farms, and J.C. Timmerman as a sponsor of this year’s Needham Memorial Day Tournament - Invitational and GPS College Showcase to be held over the Memorial Day Weekend.

Now in its 40th year, the event is one of the oldest Memorial Day soccer tournaments in the country for premier and town soccer teams. Last year’s tournament attracted 1,116 teams making it the largest such event in North America. This year 1,128 teams will be attending from all six New England states as well as from Canada, England, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, again making it the largest in North America.

It is estimated that attendance may reach 50,000 players, coaches, parents/family, friends, and referees with a spending impact exceeding $8 million over the four days of the event. One hundred soccer fields in 30 towns are utilized including 7 games at Gillette Stadium. “This is a premier event with a positive economic development impact for Needham and the surrounding communities,” offered Devra Bailin, Economic Development Director for the Town of Needham. “In addition, the Tournament employs approximately 125 local high school and college students as field marshals at the various field locations.”
